Agents without houses

When you think back to the run up to the general election, one of the reoccurring themes of political party’s manifestos was creating new properties…

Labour proposed to build 200,000 homes per year by 2020, the Lib Dem’s planned to build 300,000 homes per year and the Tories promised to make 200,000 homes available to first time buyers.

Since the election however, very little has been said in regards to the property shortage, which is clearly a huge problem for the property market.

When asked about the biggest problems their agencies face, a substantial amount of agents responded with the issue that they are selling and letting properties much faster than they are acquiring new properties into their portfolio.

For now, especially during the busy summer months Agents are letting and selling record breaking numbers of properties which is great, but with a decline in properties being brought to the market, an amount that for the first time since 2000 has declined in four consecutive months, house prices are beginning to soar.
